The Halo 4 Global Championship (the "Tournament") will consist of five (5) Online Qualifier Leaderboards that will run from July 15, 2013 at 10:00:00 UTC to August 19, 2013 at 9:59:59 UTC (the "Online Tournament Qualifying Period"), at least one (1) live qualification event ("Live Event") to run from July 5, 2013 until July 7, 2013, and a Finals Event (as defined below) which will be held between August 31, 2013 and September 1, 2013. The Online Qualifier Leaderboards will also have a sweepstakes ("Sweepstakes") component that will run during the Tournament Qualifying Period and consist of separate drawing periods set forth in more detail below. By entering and participating in the Tournament, each entrant unconditionally accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these Tournament Rules (the "Tournament Rules") and the decisions of Microsoft Corporation (the "Sponsor"), One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052, which shall be final and binding in all respects.
ELIGIBILITY: Subject to the following restrictions, the Tournament is open to everyone (excluding residents of AZ, CT, MD, TN, QUEBEC AND WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW) who have reached the age of 18 or the age of majority in the jurisdiction in which they reside before the start of the Tournament. The Sweepstakes is open to everyone (excluding Quebec and where prohibited by law) who has reached the age of 18 before the date of entry. Employees, officers, directors and agents of Sponsor, Virgin Gaming and their advertising, media buying and promotional agencies, assigns, parents, affiliated and subsidiary entities and the immediate family (spouse, parent, sibling, child) or members of their same households (whether related or not) of such employees, officers, directors and agents are not eligible to participate in the Tournament or Sweepstakes. HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ONLINE TOURNAMENT: Online Entrants must log into their Xbox 360 game console and play Halo 4 (the "Game") in the pre-defined game playlist titled Halo 4 Global Championship with a Gold subscription. All Game scores accumulated in completed in the playlist option will count towards the corresponding Weekly score. Once an Online Entrant has completed a minimum of twenty (20) Game plays during a particular Weekly Leaderboard, the Online Entrant's average score will be indicated on the corresponding Weekly Leaderboard and the Online Entrant will receive one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes as set forth in more detail below. At the end of each Week, the top four (4) entrants with the highest average score will advance to the Finals and will be deemed Finalists (defined below), subject to verification. Online Entrants must complete a minimum of twenty (20) Games played in order to be eligible for Weekly leaderboards.
Any disputes will be resolved by an independent judging organization, whose decision shall be final, conclusive and binding. The judge's decisions shall be made strictly in accordance with these Official Tournament Rules and any other rules and procedures put in place for the Finals. Additional details regarding Finals mechanics and other rules, procedures and conditions for participation in Finals may be provided to Finalists immediately prior to the Finals. The Sweepstakes will consist of 750 First Prize drawings and 1,500 Runner-up Prize drawings each Week.

Sponsor will conduct a random drawing from among all eligible entries received from both entry methods for the corresponding Week as set forth above. Finals: The Finals Event will consist of a randomly seeded player tournament. No more than 256 players will be invited to participate in the Finals. GENERAL PRIZE RESTRICTIONS: Entries to the Tournament are subject to the terms and conditions found at http://virgingaming.com/web/termsandconditions. All prizes are non-transferable, and must be accepted as awarded, without substitutions. In the event that a prize, or any portion thereof, cannot be awarded as described in these Official Tournament Rules, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equivalent or greater retail value. ARV is as of the date of printing of these Official Tournament Rules. The difference in value of prizes as stated herein and value at the time of prize notification, if any, will not be awarded. Select prizes will be distributed to the winner within one (1) month of verification by Sponsor of a properly signed Release (as further described below). Additional information regarding prize distribution may be provided to winner at the time of notification. If a winner is a U.S. resident, he/she will be issued an IRS 1099 form for prizes valued over $600 USD. Unclaimed prizes will not be awarded. Winner shall be solely responsible for all federal, state, provincial and/or local taxes, and the reporting consequences thereof, and for any other fees or costs associated with the applicable prize.
WINNER NOTIFICATION: Winners will be notified by email within seventy-two (72) hours of the conclusion of the applicable drawing date/Leaderboard Period or Live Event. Within five (5) days from the date of notice, potential winners will be required to sign and return the Release (as further described below) to Sponsor within the timeframe indicated on the accompanying letter to successfully claim the prize or such prize may be deemed forfeited. In the event of any dispute concerning the operation of any element of the Tournament or these Tournament Rules, the decision of Sponsor will be final.
RELEASE: Potential winners will be required to execute and deliver to Sponsor a legal release ("Release") that confirms the potential winner's (i) eligibility for the Tournament, Live Events, and/or Sweepstakes, and acceptance and compliance with these Tournament Rules; (ii) acceptance of the prizes as offered; (iii) release of Sponsor, Virgin Gaming, and each of their respective parent, related and affiliated companies and entities, subsidiaries, members, dealers, advertising, franchisees, promotional agencies and each of their respective directors, successors, sponsors, partners, licensees, officers, subsidiaries, agents, employees, artists, advisors, assignees, and all others associated with the development and execution of the Tournament (collectively, the "Releasees") from any and all liability in connection with this Tournament or participation in any Tournament related activities, including any travel related thereto and attendance at the Live Events.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: By entering this Tournament, each Entrant acknowledges compliance with, and agrees to be bound by, these Official Tournament Rules and consents to the use of his/her name, city of residence, and/or likeness in any publicity carried out by Releasees, and/or their advertising and promotional agencies and agents without further notice or compensation. Entrants release and hold harmless the Releasees from and against any and all manner of action, causes of action, suits, debts, covenants, contracts, claims and demands, including legal fees and expenses, whatsoever, including but not limited to, claims based on negligence, breach of contract and fundamental breach and liability for physical injury, death, or property damage which the Entrants or his/her administrators, heirs, successors or assigns might have or could have, by reason of or arising out of the Entrant's participation in the Tournament, the Sweepstakes and/or the Live Events and/or in connection with the acceptance, use and/or misuse by the Entrant of the prize.
Neither Sponsor, Virgin Gaming, nor their respective parent, affiliated and subsidiary companies, directors, officers and employees (for the purposes of this paragraph, collectively, the "Tournament Administrators") shall be responsible for or bear any liability for: (i) late-received, lost, unintelligible/illegible, incomplete, or misdirected registrations, entries or Game scores; (ii) entries or game plays which fail to comply with the Official Tournament Rules; (iii) any technical or human error that may occur in the administration of the Tournament Sweepstakes or Live Events, including any problems or technical malfunction of any computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, all of which may affect an Entrant's ability to participate in the Tournament, Sweepstakes or Live Events, or the ability of Sponsor to receive and/or record and Entrant's Game score; (iv) any unauthorized human and/or mechanical intervention in any part of the entry process or the Tournament or Sweepstakes; and (v) any personal injury or death associated with Participants' travel to or participation in any Live Event.
Any attempt to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of this Tournament is a violation of the Official Tournament Rules and criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution. Entrants agree to abide by the Tournament Rules.
Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and/or void any games submitted fraudulently. Any changes will be posted on halo4globalchampionship.com. Should multiple users of the same e-mail account enter the Tournament and a dispute thereafter arise regarding the identity of the entrant, the authorized account holder of said e-mail account at the time of entry will be considered the entrant. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization which is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses or the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. If, for any reason, the Tournament is affected by any computer virus, worm, bug, tampering, hacking, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure or other cause which, in the sole opinion of Sponsor, corrupts or otherwise affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Tournament, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Tournament, and determine winners from game play already received or as otherwise deemed fair and equitable by Sponsor. Automatic game play is prohibited, and any use of automated devices will cause disqualification.
BINDING ARBITRATION: Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to this Tournament shall be settled by binding arbitration in a location determined by the arbitrator as set forth herein (provided that such location is reasonably convenient for claimant), or at such other location as may be mutually agreed upon by the parties, in accordance with the procedural rules for commercial disputes set forth in the Comprehensive Arbitration Rules and Procedures of JAMS ("JAMS Rules and Procedures") then prevailing, and judgment upon the award rendered by the arbitrator(s) may be entered in any court having jurisdiction thereof. The arbitrator shall be selected pursuant to the JAMS Rules and Procedures. The arbitrator shall apply Washington law consistent with the Federal Arbitration Act and applicable statutes of limitations, and shall honor claims of privilege recognized at law. In the event that the claimant is able to demonstrate that the costs of arbitration will be prohibitive as compared to the costs of litigation, Sponsor will pay as much of the claimant's filing and hearing fees in connection with the arbitration as the arbitrator deems necessary to prevent the arbitration from being cost-prohibitive. If any part of this arbitration provision is deemed to be invalid, unenforceable or illegal (other than that claims will not be arbitrated on a class or representative basis), or otherwise conflicts with the rules and procedures established by JAMS, then the balance of this arbitration provision shall remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with its terms as if the invalid, unenforceable, illegal or conflicting provision were not contained herein. If, however, the portion that is deemed invalid, unenforceable or illegal is that claims will not be arbitrated on a class or representative basis, then the entirety of this arbitration provision shall be null and void, and neither claimant nor Sponsor shall be entitled to arbitrate their dispute. Upon filing a demand for arbitration, all parties to such arbitration shall have the right of discovery, which discovery shall be completed within sixty days after the demand for arbitration is made, unless further extended by mutual agreement of the parties. THE ARBITRATION OF DISPUTES PURSUANT TO THIS PARAGRAPH SHALL BE IN THE ENTRANT'S INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. THE ARBITRATOR MAY NOT CONSOLIDATE OR JOIN THE CLAIMS OF OTHER PERSONS OR PARTIES WHO MAY BE SIMILARLY SITUATED. DO NOT ENTER THIS CONTEST IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO HAVE ANY CLAIM OR CONTROVERSY ARBITRATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THESE OFFICIAL RULES.

All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of the Tournament Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant and Sponsor in connection with the Tournament, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Washington, U.S.A., without giving effect to the conflict of laws rules thereof, and any matters or proceedings which are not subject to arbitration as set forth in the "Binding Arbitration" Section of these Official Rules and/or for entering any judgment on an arbitration award, shall take place in King County, Washington.

During the qualifier period you gain rank on the leaderboards by playingin War Games quick matches or Spartan Ops Chapters to increase your scoreor complete games for their respective leaderboard. Players rank up withinthe leaderboards to get into either one of the three tiers.
Tiers have been setup to split up players during the finals and give outprizing to players of all levels, from rookies to full blown elites.
Once the Qualifier Leaderboards are finished, players get placed intoa tier depending on their rank.. From Jan 12, 2013 to Jan 19, 2013 playersthen compete against players with-in their tier to rank up to win prizing.
Finals competition is played exactly like Qualifier Leaderboard whereyou play War Games quick matches or Spartan Ops Chapters to increase scoreor number of games completed for the respective leaderboard. Note thatscore are reset to zero for the finals so that everyone in the tier hasa fresh start to win.
The tiering system has been built into the tournament to allow for playersof all skill levels to get an opportunity to get in on the great prizing.
During the qualifier period, the player's rank gets them into a certaintier. Players then compete against other gamers within their own tier duringthe finals period in order to qualify to win prizes. Each tier has itsown prizing allotted to it. To see what prizing can be won, go to the prizing page
The tiers are broken down as such:
Your current tier placement is listed on the leaderboard. Simply searchyour name on the leaderboard you are competing for and you will get a resultshowing your Rank, score or Number of Games Completed and also your currenttier. Remember that you can only be in one tier per leaderboard.
If you want to know what score or how many more completed games you needin order to get into the next tier, simply look at the Tier Info boxes,which will tell you what score is needed. Note that this information isupdated every 24 hours and will change based on activity of other players.
Tiers are locked after the Qualifier Periods end on Jan 10, 2013.
After the finals have ended on Jan 19, 2013, we will be updating the leaderboardwith the final standings and will have all of the winners announced onhalo4infinitychallenge.com and contacted via email. Virgin Gaming willalso be announcing winners on Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to Likeand Follow to stay up to date.
There are several reasons you may not see yourself on the leaderboardand it all depends on your situation.
Winners are announced at the start of the next week. Only the first 20people to complete the challenge will win the prize pack for that weeklychallenge. We will also be announcing weekly winners on our social channelsso be sure to Follow us on Twitter and Like our Facebook page to get upto the minute information.
The Spartan Ops and War Games leaderboards will be updated every 24 hoursin order to show you your current position, generally by 12:00pm EST.
You play more and play better to gain more score.
Compete in the Infinity Challenge playlist quick match you will earn ascore for all the points you gain from matches completed. The score iscalculated on leaderboards from the day you sign-up.
Complete any Spartan Ops chapters and the games you complete will counttowards your leaderboard standings. You can play any Chapter more thanonce and it will count towards your leaderboard score. All games completedis calculated towards the leaderboards from December 17, 2012 or the dayyou sign-up if you sign up after the tournament begins.
Yes. All online co-op games completed within the Spartan Ops Chapterswill count towards the Spartan Ops leaderboard.
No. Only matches competed in online co-op will count towards the leaderboard.You must also actively compete in the chapter in order to have it validate.Any matches played in idle will not count.
As long as you are playing a quick match with-in the Infinity ChallengePlaylist, your scorewill count towards the leaderboard. Note that customgame matches will not count towards the leaderboard.
After the tournament completes all winners will receive an email detailingwhat their next steps are in getting their prize. All emails will be sentto your LIVE email address. We also reserve the right to ID winners atour discretion and refuse prizing to any players we find to be cheating,colluding and/or underage.
